Navigating Focus and Ambition — Day 22

Refining Threat Intelligence

Today, I focused on improving my threat intelligence reporting. Specifically, I spent time gathering keywords, names, and other details more relevant to my current projects. As I’m growing, learning, and narrowing my focus on specific goals, I’ve realized the importance of curating information to align with immediate needs. This process feels natural, you choose a topic and tailor your research accordingly, but I’m also working on identifying correlated information that isn’t as directly apparent. Those subtle connections can often reveal insights that lead to a deeper understanding.

As highlighted in a GreyNoise blog, evaluating threat intelligence providers is a key step for security teams. They emphasize the need to focus on actionable data that supports immediate decision-making, aligning well with my own efforts to curate relevant and nuanced information.

Reflecting on Online Income Strategies

I watched a video today about making an income online, a topic that’s practically everywhere now. It made me question what it truly takes to build a client base or audience. With so many people offering strategies and products, I often wonder if my struggle stems from not knowing my demographic or not fully believing in my product.

There’s an interesting contradiction here: I invest heavily in my work and believe in its potential, yet I often shut down ideas before they fully develop because they don’t seem feasible. Meanwhile, others dedicate themselves entirely to strategies I might dismiss outright. Who are the people behind these strategies? What businesses invest in them? At times, it feels like there are more people selling strategies than actual businesses implementing them.

The Trap of Inaction

Am I holding myself back by overanalyzing? Maybe. It’s easy to convince myself I’m “not playing the game,” but that mindset could be what’s holding me back. Balancing everything else in my life seems natural, so why don’t I apply that same principle here? Why not launch a product and see what happens? Tutorials and resources are everywhere, yet I hesitate. It’s likely a mix of self-doubt and a practical sense that some ideas won’t work. But if I don’t try, how will I know?

Reconciling Plan A and Plan B

I’ve often spoken about my journey to becoming a DevSecOps engineer and the steps I’ve taken to build new skill sets. AI/ML and automation are at the forefront of my focus, and I genuinely love this career path. But if I’m honest, my career is my Plan B. Plan B was supposed to fund Plan A, yet somewhere along the way, I’ve started confusing the two.

In the context of AI’s growing role in threat detection, as discussed in BeyondTrust’s blog, it’s clear that leveraging AI to automate and enhance decision-making is not just a trend but a necessity. This reinforces my passion for integrating AI and automation into cybersecurity workflows, which could also serve as an innovative Plan A focus.

Embracing the Journey

To anyone following these posts, I know I sound scattered, and that’s okay. This journey is a work in progress, and I’m sharing it openly with the hope of looking back one day with pride and a sense of transformation. Right now, I’m jumping between thoughts and ideas, but that’s part of the process.

As highlighted in a Dark Reading article, the complex interplay between threat intelligence and real-world events underscores how nuanced this field can be. Staying agile and adaptable is key, not just in cybersecurity but also in personal growth.

The recent success of startups like Zynap, which raised €5.7 million for its threat intelligence platform (EU-Startups), further inspires me to explore innovative solutions and keep pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.
