As I progress through this journey, I’ve narrowed my focus to three primary categories: Incident Response, Threat Intelligence, and DevSecOps. Among these, DevSecOps takes center stage. AI/ML serves as the medium through which I’m upscaling my skills in these areas, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.

DevSecOps: The Central Focus
DevSecOps is rapidly evolving as a cornerstone of modern cybersecurity. Articles like “MLSecOps: The Foundation of AI/ML Security” highlight the importance of integrating AI/ML into the DevSecOps lifecycle. The article emphasizes how these technologies can automate vulnerability detection, enhance security testing, and streamline the development process, aligning perfectly with my goals.

The Digital Companion Project
One of my ongoing projects is the creation of a digital companian that implements basic ML practices. This simple companion acts as a digital agent analyzing cyber activity and learning how to handle anomalies through a simple reward system. It will also serve as a reminder tool for tasks, plans, and objectives, keeping me organized while refining my skills.
My undergraduate AI/ML coursework involved building simple ML programs, similar to the project outlined in “COS 402 Homework 6”. This assignment involved implementing basic reinforcement learning to optimize decision-making, an approach I plan to integrate into the pet’s anomaly detection mechanism. This will be an incredibly simple program, that will probably be text based. Unfortunately, I no longer have access to my original project, but revisiting these foundational concepts excites me and gives direction to this current endeavor.

AWS Certifications and the Path Forward
I’ve begun my AWS training, starting with vouchers for both the Practitioner and Associate-level certifications. While my initial plan focused on specific certifications, I’m keeping an open mind as I learn. My ultimate goal is to align with the DevSecOps engineer path, but I’m also exploring complementary certifications from other reputable providers.
The article “Caught by AI: How a Self-Spreading Worm Bypassed Traditional Security” underscores the urgency of integrating AI/ML into cybersecurity workflows. As highlighted in the piece, “Traditional security measures alone are no longer sufficient to address evolving threats. AI-based approaches offer real-time adaptability and precision.” This reinforces my commitment to upskilling and adapting to emerging challenges.

Gamifying Branding and Building Digital Agents
This weekend, I plan to create my first YouTube video documenting this journey. While it will be brief, it’s a significant step toward building my personal brand. I’m also experimenting with adding a simple chatbot to my website, designed to provide feedback and engage visitors based on my posts. For those sharing similar interests, this tool will offer a practical way to inquire further.
The idea of “Gamifying your brand and securing it” encapsulates my vision. Articles like “Game Theory in Cybersecurity” delve into leveraging strategy for defense, which resonates with my goal to make branding both engaging and secure.

Digital Agents: Multiplying Impact
Although I call my projects “digital companions,” they’re essentially digital agents. These tools offer a glimpse into what it might be like to have a team composed of versions of oneself. While we can’t clone ourselves, AI agents bring us closer to this concept by amplifying our capacity to work efficiently and creatively.
For now, I may have a slight advantage due to my technical background, but this gap is closing fast. The accessibility of AI and automation tools means that anyone willing to learn can achieve similar results. This democratization of technology is as exciting as it is challenging, pushing me to stay ahead and continue growing.

A Call to Action
How do you see AI and digital agents shaping the future of work? Are we truly ready to embrace these tools, or are we underestimating their potential? Let’s explore these questions together as we continue to navigate this transformative era.
